Horsemanship Lessons for Adults: All Skill Levels, Youth*: Ages 8+

Tune up for an upcoming horse show, trail riding or to improve your riding skills. You may wish to improve your gait and conformation knowledge and riding skills before you purchase a new horse. You'll learn to ride a gaited horse properly with improved skills easily and naturally, with either English or Western tack. Private horseback riding lessons are available on one of Gracewood Farm's gentle trained Paso Fino horses or on your own gaited horse.

Our private riding lessons are generally structured towards recreational pleasure riding with a main emphasis on safety and enjoyment. Advanced lessons can involve riding time outside of the riding ring on woodland trails and in the fields to practice riding exercises, control of the horse, and relaxation.

Gracewood Farm's Horsemanship Mission and Student Goals:

Learn with a trusted instructor with 45+ years equestrian experience and who is a Senior Certified multi-gaited breed Horse Show Judge.

Each student is instructed at their own individual speed and ability level on a horse suited for their skill level.

Learn safe equitation while riding whether for trail or show riding.

Learn horse groundwork training flexibility and warm-up techniques.

Learn how to achieve more polished Paso Fino gaits, and use training headgear and cues properly.

Learn proper techniques for Horsemanship and Equitation, such as Leading, Backing, Figure Eights, Mounting, Dismounting and Circles.

Gain self-confidence, trust, pride, and balance while also physically conditioning your body and relaxing your mind.

*Read the student requirements, safety articles, complete and submit the required student forms. You may wish to check the weather forecast if your lesson planned is within a week's time for possible scheduling conflict due to rain, snow, freezing temps, extreme heat, or high winds, and can reschedule at a safer time.

Private student lessons are scheduled by appointment. Please contact Lynn Gallup at 919.362-5966 or by email to plan your lesson for best times.
