Gracewood Farm's Paso Fino Heritage
Driving
down the winding country road that wraps around the aged wood fencing,
visitors may see Paso Fino horses grazing peacefully or frolicing on
the gently rolling pastures. The rustic horse barn and pre-Civil War
farm house (est. 1810) are nestled among towering pines and a hundred
plus year old white oak tree.
Thus, this rustic aged
farmstead is ideal for the preservation of the early Colombian Paso
Finos's legacy imported into the USA and bred. Their bloodlines are
rarer to find in today's Paso Fino of the 21st century, and are valuable
to preserve for new Paso Fino owners to discover and enjoy.
Gracewood Farm's goal
is be true to the very qualities that first made the Paso Fino desireable
as smooth pleasurable riding mounts in this country. The early Paso
Fino imports from Colombia, South America were selected for easy, natural
and smooth riding gaits; sound and beautiful conformation; and with
amicable intelligent dispositions that allowed for training in various
sports, including jumping and cattle work.
Gracewood Farm's owner Lynn Gallup acquired Emperador
La Estrella (at age 22) in 2002. Emperador embodied all these desired
qualities for a versatile and beautiful naturally gaited Paso Fino horse
for the farm's recreational riding and breeding program. Emperador had
a prepotent pedigree (foundation Colombian lineage) that he passed along
to his offspring along with his special qualities.
Emperador La Estrella exemplified
Gracewood Farm's Paso Fino standard and goals. Sadly, Emperador passed
away in late November 2008. Gracewood owns his three youngest daughters
and his last son Precision de Gracia
to carry on the Emperador legacy. And to continue with the farm's
goals of breeding naturally gaited Paso Fino horses for recreational
pleasure riding and preserving the foundation Colombian Paso Fino lineage
imported into the USA in the 1960's, 1970's to the early-1980's .

... Lynn Gallup, Gracewood Farm
Gracewood Farm's original Paso Fino herd foundation was
built on three exceptional mares acquired in the 1970's:
Pasiflora Sin Par El
Pastor x Gacela Sin Par
Cortesia que tal Mahoma
x Rosada
Luisiana Sonador
x Manuela
Luisiana's
last offspring Insignia de Gracia (21 yrs) still resides
at Gracewood Farm, and gives riding lessons.
Emperador
La Estrella
carried the lineage of Gacela Sin Par and Mahoma.
Emperador
was the last breeding grandson of the famous mare: Guala.
Guala was the foundation female line
of today's Resorte legacy.
Guala
was dam of Resorte III, who sired
Resorte IV, who sired the legendary Capuchino, and so on.
Hilachas, PFHA's most
prolific Foundation
Sire, lineage is found in several of Gracewood's
Paso Finos: Novia Dulce, Marita,
Arianna, Diplomacia,
Miaventura, and in all of Emperador's
offspring.
Gracewood's retired mare: Caballos
Cassietta is the dam of
Messalina's Satellite,
the 2-time undefeated
champion of the Nationals Largo Race.
Her grandsire is PFHA Sire Mar de Plata; she also has Resorte
III
and Gaucho lineage.
Emperador's
last offspring Precision de Gracia is a grandson of Luisiana.
Precision
brings together all three of Gracewood Farm's original
mares' lineage: Gacela Sin Par, Mahoma, and Luisana.
Precision's
foals are arriving at Gracewood Farm with the first two
being fillies that look exceptional and showing a natural
Paso Fino gait.
